Broadbeach is a high-density beachfront resort suburb of mid- and high-rise apartment towers built from the 1980s onward, intensifying around The Star Gold Coast and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, one of Australia's largest shopping centres with around 400 stores. Rendered concrete and glass curtain-wall construction dominate over the remaining older low-rise stock, and most residents live in units rather than houses, many held as rentals or holiday lets.
